"There is no such thing as art of the mentally ill, just as there is no such thing as art of people with knee problems." said Jean Dubuffet, the founder of Art Brut. By delving into their lives, and the reports of their doctors and relatives, as well as their own writings, we gain a better understanding of the worlds each of them created in their art.
