This seminar explores Erich Neumann's vision of art as a transformative force within the collective psyche. We examine the artist as an "archetypal individual" who channels symbols from the unconscious to renew culture. Central to this journey is the Great Mother archetype, representing the primal source of all creation and the birthing of new consciousness. For Neumann, great art transcends personal neurosis, drawing from the universal depths to dismantle old canons and pave the way for the new.
