After graduating from the C.G. Jung-Institute in Zurich, I wished to go into filmmaking. I adored Fellini's films and knew he admired Jung and had been in analysis. I went to Rome and asked Fellini if he would accept me as an assistant for his next film; he did. However, my encounter with Fellini in 1966 happened at a time when he was in a serious creative crisis during which his dreams guided him away from personal narratives toward more archetypal themes. We will watch two films (on two different days) that represent the beginning and the end of this crisis: 8 1/2 and Satyricon. Each viewing will be introduced by a short lecture and a discussion. Location: Karl der Grosse, Kirchgasse 14, 8001, Zürich.
